Simple Citrus Glaze
Recipe by Sarah Phillips © 2009 Sarah Phillips CraftyBaking.com
This glaze is easy to make and provides an intense citrus flavor. I like to add in vanilla to round out the rough edges of the tart flavors. Some may find it to be a little tart, but pairing it with a sweet cake or quick bread will round out its flavor.
FROSTING, ICING, ETC RECIPE HELP
The glaze seems to work best when used the day it's made.
INGREDIENTS
1 cup powdered sugar, sifted; measure and then sift
1 tablespoon of freshly squeezed lime, lemon, or citrus juice of choice
1 teaspoon grated citrus peel
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
INSTRUCTIONS
Place powdered sugar into a bowl. Whisk in citrus juice and vanilla. Stir in citrus peel. Add additional juice, or powdered sugar to achieve desired consistency.
STORAGE
Press a piece of plastic wrap on the surface of the glaze and store at room temperature for a day or two. Stir well before using.
