We use this flavored simple sugar syrup with the Black Forest Cherry Cake (Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte). The sugar in the syrup helps attract moisture to the cake, keeping it moist, plus it adds in flavor.
FROSTING, ICING, ETC. RECIPE HELP
1/3 cup sugar
1/3 cup water
1/3 cup Kirschwasser (cherry schnapps, Kirsch)
1. Add sugar into the middle of a small saucepan. Pour in water along the sides of the sugar and stir.
2. Allow the mixture to simmer until the sugar is completely dissolved. Turn off heat and let sit until cool.
3. Stir in the Kirschwasser.
Use immediately or refrigerate indefinitely in a covered container until needed.
