Many coffee cakes, sour cream cakes, and fruit crumb cakes are variations of pound cake or another dense-type of shortened cake. But, they can also be made from yeasted dough, while others are considered quick-breads.
But, the classification can be confusing. We will classify them here as quick-breads if they are leavened with baking powder and/or baking soda. If they are yeasted, find them under yeasted sweet breads.
